My first idea for the 3DVIA Challenge 12.
I wanted to turn a crate into furniture. What I like in this design is the shape of the create which looks like the ‘Recycle’ logo (see green version). I prefer the Eco Crate Desk, since it seems more sturdy and useful, though.

I like your other concept better- http://www.3dvia.com/FatherT3d/models/AA7F4DA0B28496A8 – since it is more focused on helping developing economies too.
