You can change your viewpoint in different ways to assist you while you work.

Change Viewpoints using the Pan, Rotate, and Zoom Tool

The Pan, Rotate, and Zoom tool, located at the bottom of your 3DVIA Shape window, provides quick access to frequently-used viewing tools. Using the left mouse button only, you can pan, rotate and zoom in or out of your model.

To change your viewpoint, do one of the following:

  • To pan, press and hold down the left mouse button over the Pan area then drag the mouse vertically or horizontally.
  • To rotate, press and hold down the left mouse button over the Rotate area then drag the mouse around in the desired direction.
  • To zoom in (closer to the model), press and hold down the left mouse button over the Zoom area then drag the mouse up.
  • To zoom out (further away from the model), press and hold down the left mouse button over the Zoom area then drag the mouse down.

Change Viewpoints using the Mouse

To change your viewpoint, do one of the following:

  • To pan, drag using the middle mouse button anywhere in 3D space.
  • To rotate, press and hold down the middle mouse button, then the left mouse button , and drag (still holding both buttons down).
  • To zoom, press and hold down the middle mouse button, then click left mouse button , and drag up to zoom in and drag down to zoom out.
  • To center the view at the selected location, click the middle mouse button .

The 3-button mouse is recommended for usability reasons. The IntelliMouse (two buttons plus a wheel) is an alternative to the 3-button mouse:

  • Press and hold down the wheel the same way as the middle mouse button.
  • To zoom in or out, roll the wheel forward or backward.
